Khloé Kardashian expressed a deep sense of relief when she learned that Tristan Thompson was returning to Cleveland to rejoin the Cavaliers. This development was highlighted during the season 5 premiere of "The Kardashians," which aired on May 23.

As Tristan packed up for his move, Khloé met with him and likened his departure to a "bird leaving the nest." She candidly admitted hoping he wouldn't return to Los Angeles soon. "The past decade has been very heavy for me, and I've barely had any time to heal," Khloé, the 39-year-old co-founder of Good American, revealed to the cameras.

With Tristan's departure, Khloé anticipated a period of personal growth and focusing on what brings her happiness, away from the complexities of their past relationship. Tristan, aged 33, shared that leaving was "bittersweet," especially since he would have to leave behind his younger brother Amari, whom Khloé has been helping him care for after their mother passed away in January 2023.

Khloé reflected on the overwhelming nature of the times when Tristan temporarily moved in with her during his home renovations. "Now that he's moving to Cleveland, I can finally feel a sense of relief. I just need some space," she explained.

The conversation turned light-hearted as they strolled through their daughter True's room, where Tristan joked about connecting their houses with a tunnel. Khloé, not amused, rolled her eyes and expressed to the cameras her frustration with having to continually guard against giving any false hopes of reconciliation.

Khloé and Tristan started dating intermittently in 2016, enduring several high-profile infidelities, including one with Jordyn Woods in 2019. They briefly rekindled their romance, but it was later revealed in December 2021 that Tristan had fathered a child with another woman during the time he and Khloé were planning their second child via surrogate.

Their relationship officially ended months before the birth of their son, Tatum, in August 2022. Since then, Khloé has emphasized the importance of setting firm boundaries with Tristan, particularly for the well-being of their children and her own peace of mind. She has been clear in interviews and on the show about her resolve to not reenter the relationship, maintaining their interactions strictly about the children and resisting old habits.
